Forty-one years of marriage. Countless trials, tears, and shadowed valleys which seemed impassible.
Yet, countless joys. Countless laughs. Countless memories upon which to reflect in the sunset of life.
It wasn't feelings. It wasn't some perpetual bliss which empowered them to stand the test of time.
It was love. Not "love" based on the fleeting and temporal. Not "love" based on selfish transactionalism. But love built upon choice, love built upon commitment, love built upon the selfless example demonstrated by their Creator.
It's been His love which allows them to gaze into each other's eyes and still proclaim, "I, thee, do love."
