I have very rarely, if ever, seen a child this happy, content, and generally well-behaved, my own included. He’s an adorable little guy who was absolutely fascinated by the camera…and the big, bright, flashy-thing that kept nearly blinding him.

Sleeping in Cocoon – My Flickr Faves

Christina Hunter and I got acquainted while attending the same high school, but alas, we lost contact after she graduated two years ahead of me. However, we created a variety of memories throughout our joint scholastic careers (one involving a tour bus lavatory prank) that provided us with a good chuckle when we reconnected via Facebook a number of months ago.

Christina, who has since opened her own photography business, specializes in a range of family and child photography, but her largest focus is on infant photography…and she does a pretty darn good job of it, too! This particular photo is one of my favorites that she has posted to Flickr. I love the color, softness, and warmth of the image, and it almost makes me want to get naked, wrap up in a knitted blanket, and recline on some wickedly-soft white…fuzzy…stuff.

Lindsey – The Maternity Collection

Last evening I had the opportunity to do a maternity shoot with my wife’s friend (and mine, too), Lindsey. We settled on shooting at the local community park and prayed that the alleged possible thunderstorms would hold off. Fortunately they did, and we had beautiful weather and lighting conditions.

All of these photos were shot using my DIY reflective umbrella with dual speedlights, and I am once again very pleased with the results that come from this contraption.

Faces of Innocence

DAILY PHOTO – Yesterday was like Christmas for me, in that I received a variety of toys via USPS. So last night and today have been spent testing out my new RF wireless triggers, my new speedlight, optical slave triggers, and the like. Naturally, my family is my first prey, much to their often boisterous protests. But, the little guy….he doesn’t put up too much of a fuss, especially when he’s strapped into his high chair. So, I went for the easy proverbial kill.

These photos were shot using a Promaster 7000m which was mounted to a tripod on camera right, triggered with a wireless receiver, and bounced off the ceiling. These were actually just test shots, verifying the reliability of the equipment, but I still thought they merited a special presentation.

Find Me in the Tub / Parents Magazine Contest Entry

DAILY PHOTO – I decided to do some shooting during our son’s bath time last night, and I was quite pleased with the results. I shot this using my onboard (read: popup) flash, a business card as a flash bounce, and reflected the light off the back wall of the tub. The little guy is great….saliva bubbles on his chin and all.
