In the days leading up to Memorial Day I have begun to reflect on the meaning of the holiday and those who it commemorates. Many of us will gather with family and friends without fear of disruption, many will pray over their meal without threat of imprisonment, yet few will actually remember all those who died so that we might have the freedoms that we do.

I am proud to be an American, and I am thankful to all of the men and woman who have given their lives serving this great nation. May they rest eternally in the arms of God…

I just wanted to take a moment a wish all of readers a Happy Valentine’s Day, regardless of your gender. Just remember, February 14th is not the only day when flowers should be bought or special notes written. Treat that special person (or people, for you polygamists and unfaithful souls….or for those, who like me, have a daughter(s) ) with love and appreciation every day of the year.

Today holds a special dinner with both of my girls and a shopping trip outside of our general area. Do I love shopping? No! Do I like shopping? Not really (unless we are talking about electronics or discounted housewares). But it is something special we can all do together.
