Random Wednesday

  • Deadlines out the wazoo, but staying busy is great.
  • Recently discovered the relaxing beauty of Celestial Seasonings’ Sleepytime Vanilla tea…a must-have to de-stress.
  • Excited about my personal marketing efforts being distributed in Dubai, UAE.
  • Loved the warmer weather the last couple days…gave me a chance to do some outdoor photography without my fingers falling off.
  • I miss the old split image focusing screens that were in my old cameras and can’t wait to get an after-factory one installed in my new camera.
  • Kohen goes for his four month appointment on Friday…”little” guy already weighs 20 pounds.
  • Excited about my new hobby — golf.  Not sure if it will be long-lived, but at least we’ll try.

Three Happy Years

Posted by Allen Mowery On June - 9 - 2009

wedding3Three years ago today I married the love of my life! Since then we have shared good days and bad, many laughs and many tears, yet through it all our love for each other has continued to grow. I find it amazing how the love I felt for her on our wedding day is nothing compared to the love I have for her now. Read the rest of this entry »

Pregnant Again!

Posted by Allen Mowery On March - 15 - 2009

Pregnant Again! No, I am not pregnant (thank God; that’d just be weird), but my wife and I are anticipating the arrival of our second little miracle. Our first child, Kylie was born on October 7, 2006. Since then our lives have been greatly enriched by her presence. And not that Kylie “wasn’t enough” for us, but we thought it might be nice to provide her with a little playmate all her own.

So Alyse and I are excited about having another child and Kylie is totally psyched about getting what she refers to as “Ky-ee’s ba’by.” We haven’t really approach the whole “birds and the bees” conversation yet, but we have tried to tell her that the baby “is in Mommy’s belly.” Of course Kylie, being the sometimes self-centered child that she is, corrects us and says, “No! Ba’by in Ky-ee’s bellwy!” and struts around the house pushing her stomach out as far as it will go. She will even go so far as to shove her baby dolls up the front of her clothing, then push them out the bottom while saying “Ba’by got born!” Don’t ask me where she got that from. Ah, good times….

I’ll be sure to keep you posted on the progress of things, and I’m even trying to convince Alyse to let me do a live webcast of the birth. But she’s being rather obstinate on that one. Women….

Budding Artist

Posted by Allen Mowery On January - 30 - 2009

Budding ArtistComing from the family that she does, Kylie was basically predestined to be an artist. Whether she’s inspired by her father (I like to think so) or her Uncle Caleb (who is an amazing artist) I do not know, but ever since she was old enough to hold a pen, crayon, or tube of lipstick, Kylie has been drawing. Our walls bear testament to several masterpieces…. I even made a special trip yesterday to deliver some pieces she had made for Grandma who leaves for Africa next week.

Back to this story…. In an effort to inspire his young niece to unleash her creative genius, my brother got her a set of washable (thank God!) markers for her birthday. After doodling on some pictures, coloring the carpet and adding her personal graffiti to some of my meeting notes, she brought out her inner tattoo artist (not my first career choice for my daughter) by turning the markers on herself. The attached picture is a tribute to her work. All I can say is, “Thank you, Caleb, for having enough compassion on her parents to buy the washable ones….”
